What to expect from Mibo in terms of accessibilty (i18n)
At Mibo, we care about accessibility. All of our website properties comply with WCAG. Having said that, the experimental nature of the core Mibo experience coupled with its 3D gaming-like environment and spatial audio make it inherently hard to use for people with limitations to sight or hearing. We do continually strive to improve the user experience for everyone, and applying relevant accessibility standards where possible.
Practically, this is what to expect:
- In general, we strive for accessibility in the broad sense by:
- Using big text and big buttons
- Providing strong contrast between text and background
- Avoiding jargon and using short, easy to understand text
- The core Mibo experience heavily leans on hearing and sight both for navigation and for communication and cannot be uniformly recommended to any user requiring specific accessibility settings.
- Screen readers are unfortunately not supported.
- The camera field of view can be changed — setting it to a lower value effectively 'zooms in' making it potentially easier to use with low vision.
- Some hearing issues may be aided by the audio settings, which allow pushing music and environmental sound all the way to the background so it becomes easier to hear participants.
- For people who can hear only on one side, or who are disoriented by spatial audio, it's possible to add "&stereo=false" to a Mibo URL which forces sound to monaural.
